Problem
After a successful restore of an Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2007 mailbox using Granular Restore Technology (GRT), plain text format emails are restored, but with only the first character in the body of the message
Cause
This issue has been observed with plain text messages only. All other email formats will restore correctly.
Solution
Workaround:
If the recovery of a plain text message is needed, a Recovery Storage Group can be created, and the message can be retrieved using the Exmerge utility (Exchange 2003 or 2007 Server) or Exchange management tools (Exchange 2007 Server). See related documents for instructions on how to use Recovery Storage Groups with Backup Exec.
Permanent Resolution:
This issue has now been fixed by way of a hotfix in Backup Exec 12.0. Please refer the Related Documents section for more information.
