The option to change the catalog location is not available on a Managed Media Server (MMS) in a Central administration server (CASO) environment.

Issue



In a CASO environment the Managed Media Server (MMS) catalog location is set to Central Administration Server (Centralized) and the option to change the setting to Managed Media Server (Distributed) or Both Servers (Replicated) is not available (FIGURE 1).

Solution



If the Backup Exec for Windows SAN Shared Storage Option (SSO) is installed on the MMS server then the catalog location can only be centralized by virtue of the SSO option. Catalogs will be stored on the Primary SSO or CASO server.

In order to have the ability to change the catalog location on the MMS server to any of the three available options remove the SSO License option from the MMS server.
