Problem
Lotus Domino backup fails with the message "This database has local access protection and you are not authorized to access it."
Error
Final error: 0xe00084b8 - An error occurred during backup. See the job log for details.
The item TEST|C:\Lotus\Domino\Data\user.nsf in use - skipped.
This database has local access protection and you are not authorized to access it
Solution
Backup operation fails because of skipped files when
backing up Lotus databases using the Lotus Domino Agent with the above mentioned
error in the job log.
1. Enable debug on the Lotus Domino server following Technote 288297 (see Related Document for the link), and run a backup job of the failing Lotus Domino database.
2. Once the job fails, review ServerName-BeremoteXX.log (XX represents digits) under C:\Program files\Symantec\Backup Exec\RAWS\Logs on the Lotus Domino Server for the following entries:
****************************************************************************************************************************************************************
[1256] 03/07/08 08:55:22 Notes Agent: Calling NOTES_DbOpen C:\Lotus\Domino\Data\user.nsf

In Backup Exec 12 for Windows Server the job may fail without giving the exact description of the error in the job log. However, review of beremote log shows following message
****************************************************************************************************************************************************************

This issue can occur in cases where a user other than the current user created the local replica and if the database on the server was encrypted using the local encryption feature.
Resolution:
