How to set the DLO (Desktop and Laptop Option) Agent to backup a limited amount of users when multiple users access the DLO Client

Solution

To have the ability to backup a limited amounts of users when multiple users access the client, a registry key needs to be added to the DLO Agent Client per the following steps:

Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.

1. Add the following registry key to the DLO Client:

HKey_Local_Machine | Software | Symantec | DLO | 3.0 | Client | EnabledAccounts

2. Create a string value key with the following entries:

DOMAIN\User01

Note:  The 'DOMAIN' entry needs to be the Domain Name and the 'User01' entry needs to be the user who will have backup rights enabled.  If there are 10 Users and  it is only desired that five have backup rights enabled, then specify the users in the same fashion with its own String Value Key.  *Any users not referenced here will not activate the agent for backup. No need to give any value to the string created.
3. Close the Registry.  The ability to backup limited amounts of users on the DLO Agent should now be enabled.

Note: Related Documents only applies to Backup Exec

For Symantec DLO 7.x the registry key is:
HKey_Local_Machine | Software | Symantec | Symantec DLO | Client | EnabledAccounts

For Symantec DLO 7.x on a Windows 7 x64 system:

HKey_Local_Machine | Software | Wow6432Node | Symantec | Symantec DLO | Client | EnabledAccounts
