Cause

Cause for redirect restore to different Exchange 2007 server :

This error will come up if the location specified for "Transaction log file folder" and "System folder and Checkpoint file folder" is different.

Solution

Solution for redirect restore to same Exchange Server:
While creating a RSG in Exchange 2007 following parameters need to be specified:

Transaction log file folder
System folder and Checkpoint file folder
Database folders and file name.

As indicated in the events above this error will come up if the location specified for "Transaction log file folder" and "System folder and Checkpoint file folder" is different. To resolve the problem remove the existing RSG and recreate it. While recreating the RSG make sure to specify same folder for "Transaction log file folder" and "System folder and Checkpoint file folder".

Note: In Exchange 2007 one can create RSG either using Exchange Management Console or using Exchange Management Shell. If Exchange 2007 SP1 is not installed then option to change the default path won't be available while creating RSG using Exchange management console.
Refer to the document in the related documents section for information on how to create a RSG using Exchange Management Shell.

Solution for redirect restore to different Exchange Server:
Run a redirect restore of the Exchange 2007 Information Store backup to a flat file and mount the Exchange database manually.
Refer the tech note below for further information on restoring  Exchange 2003/2007 snapshot backups as a flat file.

Description

A failure occurred writing an object.

SourceEvent ID

Description

The restore is being targeted to a different storage group than the storage group from storage group from which the backup set was originally taken. Under this scenario, both the log file path and system path must be targeted to a restoredlogs subdirectory under the storage group's log file path
