Issue



When backing up Oracle 8.1.7, the following error is received: V-79-57344-33928 - Access is denied. Access is denied to directory . Access is denied to Remote Agent. Check the login account for the specified device.


Solution



To determine the cause of the failure, debug the Oracle Agent per the steps in this Technote:

If the debug logs show errors stating "ret_val=12640" or "rev_val=-12640" or "ORA-12638" or "ORA-12640", refer to the following Technote to resolve this issue:
 
The Backup Exec Oracle Agent does not connect to Oracle instances, and the error "ORA-12640" or "ret_val=12640" or "ORA-12638" or "ret_val='12638" is returned in the Oracle Agent debug log.
