Problem
A Backup Exec Hotfix or Service Pack installation fails with the error "V-225-69: ERROR: C:\WINNT\Installer\{EAB0C0F9-B57B-4865-91A3-DE3B34B1FB02}\PatchInventory.ini does not exist"
Error
V-225-69: ERROR: C:\WINNT\Installer\{EAB0C0F9-B57B-4865-91A3-DE3B34B1FB02}\PatchInventory.ini does not exist.
ERROR: Failed to get list of display names for applied patches.
Solution
The Backup Exec installation log file (bkupinst.htm)
reports the above error while installing a Backup Exec Hotfix or Service Pack
using Symantec LiveUpdate or during the manual installation of a
Hotfix.
Resolution:
To troubleshoot the issue, perform the following:

- %Systemroot%\Temp ((Note: "%SystemRoot%" is typically C:\Windows)
- C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp

Check the Event Viewer for any errors related to MSIinstaller.
3. Logon with a
user account that has "Administrator" rights on the server and try installing
the patch.
Note:
Ensure that the Backup Exec Services are configured with the service
logon account that has "administrator" rights. All the Backup Exec Services
should be running under the same account by default, with the exception of the
Backup Exec Remote Agent Service (RAWS), which runs under the Local System
Account.
4. If the above
steps do not resolve the issue, review the documents listed in the Related
Documents section and verify the permissions for the Backup Exec Service
account.
