This is the LBN for the Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions 5.1.x for Windows. This includes Storage Foundation for Windows (SFW), Storage Foundation HA for Windows (SFW/HA), Storage Foundation-Disaster Recovery-formerly the Global Cluster Option (SFW/DR), Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) for Windows, and Veritas Dynamic Multi-Pathing for Windows products.

On May 23, 2011 Symantec has issued new  End User License Agreements (EULA) for Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions 5.1.x Veritas Cluster Server 5.1.x, and Veritas Dynamic Multi-Pathing 5.1 for Windows.  All new licenses purchased for any of these products on or after May 23, 2011 will use the new EULA. On November 1, 2010 Symantec released Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions 5.1 for Windows, and Veritas Cluster Server 5.1 for Windows and released Dynamic Multi-Pathing 5.1 for Windows.

Note: The VCS VRTSWebApp agent has been deprecated and is uninstalled during the upgrade. If VRTSWebApp resource is configured in ClusterService group, after upgrading to 5.1SP2 the resource fails to get probed and thus the ClusterService group would fail to come online in the cluster. You must manually delete the VRTSWebApp resource from the ClusterService group. Use the Cluster Manager (Java Console), the command line (hares -delete), or the Veritas Operations Manager (VOM) to remove the resource.

On June 2, 2010 Symantec revised installation packages and a patch for all currently available and shipping versions of Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions for Windows provide NO new product features or enhancements, but does contain installer and Config Checker binary modifications to address changes in third party code.

This includes new installation packages for the following versions: 5.1, 5.1 AP1, 5.1 SP1, and 5.1 SP1 AP1. The updated 5.1 and 5.1 SP1 releases can be obtained from fileconnet: https://fileconnect.symantec.com . The 5.1 AP1 and 5.1 SP1 AP1 releases can be downloaded from the links found in the Related Documents section below. In addition, for certain packages and versions, the revised package provides changes to installation behavior. Details on this update on a per package and version basis are as follows:

The revised slipstream and upgrade packages for version 5.1 SP1 of Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows and Veritas Storage Foundation HA for Windows contain:

 

    1. NO new product features or enhancements.

    2. A modification to installation behavior to ensure that the proper Track Aligned Volume setting of 128 for Open-V devices, which can be applicable to particular HDS, HP and Nihon arrays, is properly configured in the registry at the time of installation.

    3. Updated installation and Config Checker binaries to address changes in third party code.

The revised installation packages for Veritas Cluster Server 5.1 through 5.1 SP1 for Windows, and versions 5.1, and 5.1 AP1 for Veritas Storage Foundation/Veritas Storage Foundation HA for Windows contain:

 

    1. NO new product features, NO enhancements, NO modifications to product functionality and NO bug fixes.

    2. Updated installation and Config Checker binaries to address changes in third party code.


The patch for existing installations of all aforementioned versions of Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions for Windows contains:

 

    1. NO new product features, NO enhancements, NO modifications to product functionality and NO bug fixes.

On May 7, 2010, Symantec released Service Pack 1 (SP1) Application Pack 1 for Veritas Storage Foundation & High Availability Solutions 5.1 for Windows provides support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. SP1 AP1 can be downloaded from this link: http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/350624 

On May 1, 2010 Symantec announced support for Oracle 11gR1 support with Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability 5.1 Service Pack 1 for Windows.

On April 9, 2010, Symantec announced support for Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability 5.1 Service Pack 1 for Windows (Veritas Storage Foundation) in configurations that include the Microsoft DSM (MSDSM), which is provided in Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2. This support is contingent upon hardware vendors supporting their storage arrays with the MSDSM. Note that, in such configurations, Veritas Storage Foundation will not manage load-balancing, path arrival or path removal.

On November 30, 2009, Symantec released Service Pack 1 for Veritas Storage Foundation & High Availability Solutions 5.1 for Windows provides new and updated application and operating system support. This service pack provides support for Microsoft Windows server 2008 R2, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 Hyper-V, and Microsoft Windows 7 (client support) as well as Microsoft Exchange 2007 SP2, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP1, Microsoft SharePoint 2007, Symantec Enterprise Vault 8, and many other updates. This SP1 release includes all the updates and features released in AP1. AP1 should not be installed on top of 5.1 SP1.

On December 15, 2008, Symantec released Application Pack 1 (AP1) for Veritas Storage Foundation & High Availability Solutions 5.1 for Windows provides new and updated application support. This optional update provides integrated quick recovery, high availability and disaster recovery for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 with the complete Veritas Storage Foundation & High Availability 5.1 for Windows product suite. Additionally, this optional update provides updated NetApp support for Veritas Cluster Server 5.1 for Windows.
