Minimum 128 MB RAM
Minimum 250 MB hard disk space to install the documentation
Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or later

=====================================================================
2. Mounting the VERITAS Documentation Disc on an HP-UX System
=====================================================================

HP-UX
-----
To install or view the contents of the documentation disc do the following:

1. Determine the block device file for the DVD-ROM drive:

  # ioscan -fnC disk

  Make a note of the device file as it applies to your system.

2. Create a directory in which to mount the software disc, if it does not
  already exist. The directory must have read/write permissions.

  # mkdir -p /dvdrom

3. Mount the disc using the appropriate device name. For example:

  # /usr/sbin/mount -F cdfs /dev/dsk/c3t2d0 /dvdrom

4. Verify that the dvd is mounted and readable:

  # cd /dvdrom
  # ls

  The output should look similar to the following:

  Bin           hpjre_PARISC  intro.ini     linjre
  README        hpjre_ia64    launch        pdf
  autorun.inf   install       launch.exe    pdfs.html
  docsets       intro.exe     lib           winjre

  If the output contains unreadable characters, such as the following,
  you will need to mount the disc using psf_mount command instead.

  AUTORUN.INF;1  HPJRE_PA       LAUNCH.;1      PDF
  BIN            INSTALL        LAUNCH.EXE;1   PDFS.HTM;1
  DOCSETS        INTRO.EXE;1    LIB            README.;1
  HPJRE_IA       INTRO.INI;1    LINJRE         WINJRE

  If you need to use the psf_mount command, continue to Step 5,
  otherwise you have completed the mount procedure.

5. Unmount the current disc:

  # umount /dvdrom

6. Mount the disc as follows:

  # nohup pfs_mountd &
  # nohup pfsd &
  # pfs_mount -t rrip /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /dvdrom

  Repeat Step #4 to verify the disc is mounted and readable.

To unmount the disc, enter one of the following commands:

  # umount /dvdrom

  OR

  # pfs_umount /dvdrom

=====================================================================
3. Running the Searchable VERITAS Documentation From CD
=====================================================================

HP-UX
-----
Mount the disc as described in Section 2, above.

To open the searchable VERITAS documentation, open a terminal window and
run the "launch" script located in the root directory of the Disc.

To display a list of all printable documentation, open the file
pdfs.html from the root directory in a browser.

Windows
-------
On systems with the CD autorun feature enabled, a menu window opens
when the CD is inserted into the CD ROM drive. The menu window has
buttons that can be used to open the searchable or PDF documentation.

If autorun is disabled, run the launch.exe file from the root of the CD
to view searchable documentation.

To display a list of all printable documentation, double-click the
pdfs.html file from the Explorer window to launch the default browser
with the index of all the printable documentation.

=====================================================================
4. Installing VERITAS Documentation on Your System
=====================================================================

You can install the searchable documentation on your system to run
independently of the CD.

HP-UX
-----
Mount the disc as described in Section 2, above.

Open a terminal window and run the "installcd" script from the "install"
directory. Follow the prompts to copy the required files.

To run the searchable documentation after installation on the system,
run the "launch" script from the VRTSdocs directory installed under the
chosen installation directory.

To display a list of printable documentation, open the pdfs.html file
from the VRTSdocs directory.

To uninstall, remove the VRTSdocs directory under the chosen
installation directory.

Windows
-------
If autorun is enabled and the menu is launched when the CD is inserted,
click the "Install Documentation" button.

If autorun is disabled, run the Setup.exe file under the "install\win"
directory on the CD.

To uninstall, open "Add/Remove Programs" from the control panel and
select remove "VERITAS Documentation."
