Problem

Using the fsautility command fails with "The network path was not found" if a configured target file server is offline

Error

The network path was not found.

Solution

This issue can occur if the file server that is offline is alphabetically before the server name used in the command line.
For example, if the following command is issued for ServerB and ServerA is configured under Targets > File Servers in the Vault Administration Console (VAC), but ServerA is offline the command will fail.

fsautility -t -s \\ServerB\f$\users

The error will show the ServerA name:

Restore files
Folder : \\ServerB\f$\users
Error: Fileserver ServerA.domain.com: The network path was not found.

This issue has been addressed in the following release:
Enterprise Vault 2007 Service Pack 3 (SP3)
