Array Support Library for HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array (Active/Active-Asymmetric) on VERITAS Volume Manager 5.0 and later for AIX 5.3

Solution

This TechFile provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) for HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array on VERITAS Volume Manager 5.0 and later for AIX 5.3

For general information about ASLs, see TechNote http://support.veritas.com/docs/249446

Package Name: Array Support Library for HP EVA LE (HSV300)
Package Version: 1.0 rev 1.0
Supported versions of VERITAS Volume Manager: 5.0 and later
Supported Arrays: HP StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array (A/A-A - Active/Active-Asymmetric)

At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL package
After downloading VRTSHP-EVALE-5.0-asl-AIX_5.3-v1.0_303963.tar.Z, verify cksum and uncompress the file:
# cksum VRTSHP-EVALE-5.0-asl-AIX_5.3-v1.0_303963.tar.Z
4060279516 14178 VRTSHP-EVALE-5.0-asl-AIX_5.3-v1.0_303963.tar.Z
# zcat VRTSHP-EVALE-5.0-asl-AIX_5.3-v1.0_303963.tar.Z | tar xvf -

Before adding ASL package, ensure VERITAS Volume Manager is installed and enabled:
# vxdctl mode
mode: enabled

ASL Installation:
# installp -acX -d ./VRTSHP-EVALE.bff VRTSHP-EVALE

After the ASL is installed, you must execute the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array as an HP EVA LE array.
# vxdctl enable

Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL does not take effect, and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can execute the vxconfigd -k command in addition to vxdctl enable.

After executing vxdctl enable, verify the output of the vxddladm listsupport command:
# vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxhpevale.so
