Access Denied when Restoring Individual Items from a Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) Backup.

When restoring individual mail items, folders or whole mailboxes from an Exchange Information Store backup with GRT enabled, the job fails and an Access Denied error is returned for the items being restored as shown in the example below.
0xe0008488 - Access is denied
Access denied to file Mailbox Store (EXCHSRVR) Test User [tuser]Top of Information StoreInboxTest Folder<No Subject>.
A message indicating that the message was corrupt when it was backed up is also displayed in the job log
WARNING: The file <No Subject> was restored from a file that was corrupt when it was backed up. Try restoring the file from another backup, or try repairing the file.

These errors are the result of the anti-virus programs installed on either the Backup Exec server or the Exchange server interfering with the restore process

The issue can be resolved by following the steps below:
1) Change the scanning mode of any Exchange integrated anti-virus program if configured to use VSAPI, to MAPI scanning mode. If it is already in MAPI mode, change it to VSAPI .
2) Disable the email scanning component of the normal server anti-virus program on both the Exchange server and the Backup Exec server
3) Exclude the Backup to Disk location and Temporary Staging Location for GRT restores from the Anti-Virus realtime/on access scan on the Backup Exec server.
4) Attempt the restore job again.
