Solution

Workarounds

GRT based Exchange Agent backups can be directed to a non NAS B2D for its destination device.

For Exchange 2000, and 2003 only:  Select the option "Enable legacy mailbox support (not recommended - use information store instead)" under Tools | Options | Job Defaults | Microsoft Exchange enables legacy mailbox backups. this enables brick level mapi based backups. The selection list will need to be modified to include the mailbox and public folder selections for the backup.

If it is necessary  due to space limitations to use a NAS device for Exchange GRT backups, GRT can be disabled for the job, and a Recovery Storage Group may be used to recover items if needed. (See related Documents)

Resolution

This issue has been resolved by way of a hotfix in Backup Exec for Windows Servers version 12.0 and in Backup Exec for Windows Servers version 12.5. For more details please refer to the Related Documents section.
