Solution

Ensure that RALUS.CFG is configured to use 'LATIN-1' as it's encoder by following these steps:

1. Stop RALUS by executing the command  /etc/init.d/VRTSralus stop

2. Edit RALUS.CFG, located in /etc/VRTSralus on the remote UNIX/Linux server and locate the following line:

Software\Symantec\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\RALUS\Encoder=

3. Add the following to the above line: LATIN-1. It should now read:

Software\Symantec\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\RALUS\Encoder=LATIN-1

4. Execute the command /etc/init.d/VRTSralus start to start RALUS on the remote Linux/UNIX server.
