Solution
To resolve
the error perform the following steps:
1) Verify
the mfc42.dll, mfc42u.dll and msvcrt.dll files do not have
the READ-ONLY attribute. These files are typically located in
%system%\system32\ directory.
2) Stop
the Microsoft IIS services and any type of anti-virus and attempt to install
again.
3) If
issue persist, apply the latest Service Pack from Microsoft. Currently, Service
Pack 4 is the latest available from Microsoft
4) In
addition, download and install the Windows Installer 3.1 from Microsoft
