Problem
How to revert a disk marked as "Foreign Dynamic" to a basic disk using VERITAS Volume Manager (tm)
Solution
A foreign disk is a dynamic disk that was previously
created and/or used on another installation of Volume Manager and is now
attached to the current system. Typically, the "Merge Foreign Disk" feature is
used to retain existing data and begin to use the disk on the target system. If
it is more desirable to simply remove all data on the disk rather than attempt
to merge the disk with other existing dynamic disks, the disk can be reverted to
a basic disk.
Note: This is a destructive process and any existing data on the disk will be lost!
To revert the disk to basic, simply right click on the disk and select Revert to Basic from the pop-up menu (Figure 1)
