Live Update fails with error "The query for available updates failed, error code - 1073741819" when querying for available updates
Error
The query for available updates failed, error code=-1073741819
The Application log in the Event viewer displays the following event:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Backup Exec
Event Category: None
Event ID: 34578
Backup Exec Alert: Live Update Error
(Server: "Server name") The query for available updates failed, error code=-1073741819
Solution
- Uninstall the existing LiveUpdate from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel
- Delete the LiveUpdate folder from C:\Program Files\Symantec\
- Use link http://www.symantec.com and search for "download Liveupdate" and run LUSETUP.EXE .
- Reboot the Media server.
After reboot, run the LiveUpdate.
