Problem
When attempting to apply a product key to Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR) 8.5 the following Windows event occurs: Warning A3392CC9: Invalid license date 1/1/1601 with 60 days before expiration corrected to 12/19/2008. 0x00 (Backup Exec System Recovery Management Control )
Error
EC8F1C20: Cannot install license.
EC8F17C8: Invalid serial number:
Warning A3392CC9: Invalid license date 1/1/1601 with 60 days before expiration corrected to 12/19/2008 0x00
Solution
When attempting to apply an Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR) 8.5 product key to a locally updated client system, the errors listed above are generated.
The key appears to have been accepted but after a short period of time the local BESR console/UI's HELP | About menu shows the agent's license status as 'Not activated.'
This issue is caused by an in-placed upgrade of the Backup Exec System Recovery agent without performing the following tasks first:
- 1. Importing the updated product key for the 8.5 version into the new in-place upgrade of Backup Exec System Recovery Manager (BESRM) console.
2. Uninstall previous Management Control 8.0x agent and install the updated Management Control 8.5 agent on the managed clients.
- NOTE: Uninstalling and installing the updated management control agent does not require a reboot of the client system(s).
Following these steps should remedy the generation of these error message.
