Error



Backup Job Log:

Final error: 0xe000fe30 - A communications failure has occurred.
V-79-57344-65072 - The connection to target system has been lost. Backup set canceled.
WARNING: "http://SITE\Index DB 1 (SITE)\http://SITE\Index DB 1 (SITE)" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.

Windows event viewer may have following warning alert:
 
Event ID: 502
 Event Source: SharePoint Portal Administration Service
 
Description:
 An exception occurred in the search synchronizer.

Cause



Backup of Microsoft SharePoint Portal/SharePoint Services may fail on Index Database with the above mentioned error message due to a possible corruption in the SharePoint search Index.

 


Solution



1. To confirm the suspected corruption in the Index database use SharePoint's built-in Backup tool to backup the Index database.

Contact Microsoft Technical Support for assistance in rebuilding the indexes, if SharePoint built-in Backup tool also returns an error while backing up the index database.
