Solution
Issues resolved:
- Enhanced security for the Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure to disallow an authorized backup operator from possibly elevating their privileges on the ESX server.
- Agent for Microsoft Virtual Servers - Virtual Machine GRT restore selections showing up as Volume GUIDS and not by Virtual Machine Guest Name
How to determine if affected:
The issue outlined in this article only occurs if all of the following conditions are true:
- Backup Exec 12.5 revision 2213 with Agent for VMware Virtual Infrastructure installed.
- Backup Exec 12.5 revision 2213 with Agent for Microsoft Virtual Servers installed.
Determining Your Product Version:
The installed version of Backup Exec can be verified by selecting the "About Backup Exec" option from the Help menu.
Permanent Resolution:
The above mentioned issue has been fixed by a way of a hotfix in Backup Exec for Windows Servers version 12.5 revision 2213.
