How to partition and manage an Autoloader or a Robotic Library using Backup Exec


Solution



To create and manage autoloader partitions, perform the following:

1. Launch Symantec Backup Exec (tm) For Windows Servers

2. Select the Devices tab

3. Select the name of the changer (robotic library) under Changers (Figure 1)

4. Right-click the changer name, and select Configure Partitions (Figure 2)

5. All slots within the robotic library are displayed (Figure 3)

6. Select the first slot and the ending slot of the desired partition (Figure 4)

In this example, there are two partitions: partition 1 consists of slots 1 to 5 and partition 2 consists of slots 6 to 10.
 

7. Click OK on the Configure Partitions - AUTOLOADER dialog box

8. Accept the partition table


The figures given below display how these settings appear in Backup Exec 9.x and 10.0 for Windows Servers.
Note that this works the same way in Backup Exec 2010.

To remove partitions, perform the following:

1. Select the partition to remove, and click Remove Partition

2. To remove all partitions, click Remove All
