[11cc] 09/10/08 13:14:43 Error in BackupSSP - running stsadm -o enumssp command :: Value cannot be null.

Cause

This issue has been observed if there are spaces in the name of "Shared Service Provider"

Solution

1. As per technote TECH57124, check there are no spaces in the name of the "Shared Service Provider". (If spaces are present, check whether the hotfix 302982 is applied)

2. If running MOSS2007, open a command prompt and execute:

stsadm -o enumssp -title SSP1

For a detailed explanation of this command line please refer to  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262077(office.12).aspx
Backup Exec enumerates the SharePoint Farm using the tools provided from SharePoint application. If these tools generate an error outside of being called by Backup Exec then this needs to be resolved first, with assistance from the application's support resources, as appropriate.  The above command will only query the configuration: it does not make any changes.

3. If running MOSS2007, execute

stsadm -o setdefaultssp -title SSP1

Details about this command line are available at  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263296(office.12).aspx
Again, this command must execute without error: any errors should be troubleshot prior to continuing.  The above command will set the default Shared Services Provider to the SSP you specify: you do not have to change the default, the purpose is to check that the default can be set without error.

4. Once both of these commands execute successfully please refer to the related technotes for further troubleshooting.
