Problem
All server initiated backups of Oracle databases on Linux server show as expired when crosscheck command is run using RMAN
Solution
The above issue occurs on Oracle databases installed on
Linux server.
If crosscheck backup command is run for backups performed using Backup Exec, all server initiated backups are returned as expired and restore from any such expired set may fail.
Server initiated restore may fail with one of the following error:
**********************************************************************************************
RMAN-06100: no channel to restore a backup or copy of datafile 4
**********************************************************************************************
OR
**********************************************************************************************
RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 4 found to restore
**********************************************************************************************
DBA initiated restore may fail with the following error:
**********************************************************************************************
RMAN-03002: failure of restore command at 11/13/2008 10:41:18
RMAN-06026: some targets not found - aborting restore
RMAN-06025: no backup of log thread 1 seq 85 lowscn 3191020 found to restore
**********************************************************************************************
Workaround:
While configuring Backup Exec Agent for Oracle on Linux server ensure that the Linux server is specified using FQDN under backup selection list.
