How to uninstall Application Pack 1 (AP1) for Storage Foundation 5.1 High Availability for Windows (SFW HA) and Veritas Cluster Server 5.1 for Windows.

Error

No clusters were detected.
Error V-16-15-169

Solution

If there are any cluster configuration changes done using the Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) Configuration Wizard (VCW) after the installation of AP1, the following steps must be performed before uninstalling AP1:

1. Backup the registry hive HKEY_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\Veritas\VCS\Base (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veritas\VCS\Base). No other registry hives need to be backed up for this procedure as they are not modified by the AP1 installation. For more information about backing up the registry, or specific registry hives, please refer to Microsoft's Support knowledge base at  http://support.microsoft.com .
2. Remove AP1 from Windows
a. For Windows 2003, Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs
b. For Windows 2008, Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features
3. Restore the backed up registry hive.

Troubleshooting:

In the event that AP1 is removed without following the aforementioned procedure, the configuration changes made after installing AP1 are not completely restored. As a result, the user may not be able to use VCW to make any changes to the cluster (figure 1).

Perform the following steps to resolve the issue, depending on the case scenarios described below.

Case 1:
A user installs AP1, creates a cluster, and then uninstalls AP1

OR

Case 2:
A user created a cluster, installs AP1, adds another AP1 node to the cluster, and then uninstalls AP1

For Case 1, perform the following steps on all of the cluster nodes.
For Case 2, perform the following steps on the added node.
i. Set the registry value HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veritas\VCS\Base\ClusterNodeMode to 2.
ii. Create the registry value HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veritas\VCS\Base\ClusterName of type REG_SZ and set the value as the cluster name specified while creating the cluster.
iii. Create the registry value HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veritas\VCS\Base\ClusterID of type REG_DWORD and set the value as the cluster ID specified while creating the cluster.

Case 3:
A user installs AP1, deletes the cluster, and then uninstalls AP1

OR

Case 4
A User created a cluster, installs AP1, removes node, and then uninstalls AP1

For Case 3, perform the following steps on all of the cluster nodes.
For Case 4, perform the following steps on the removed node.
i. Delete the registry value HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veritas\VCS\Base\ClusterName
ii. Delete the registry value HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veritas\VCS\Base\ClusterID
iii. Set the registry value HKLM\SOFTWARE\Veritas\VCS\Base\ClusterNodeMode to 1
