Problem
An Agent for VMWare Infrastructure (AVVI) backup Job completes with the error "Failed to mount one or more virtual disk images" when the virtual servers are migrated from Physical machines with utility partition or the virtual disk contain multiple partitions.
Error
Failed to mount one or more virtual disk images:
From remote agent debug: VDiskMounter::MountAllDisks: no drive letter or volume GUID found
Solution
An AVVI
Backup Job may complete with an exception "Failed to mount one or more virtual
disk images" when either of the following conditions are true:
1. When the
virtual machines (VM's) are migrated from Physical machines with utility
partition.
2. The VMDK
files for the virtual machines have multiple partitions created on it.
3. The disk
signature of the volumes is different than expected.
Note: All
guest machines that receive this error will not be able to perform GRT restore.
VMWare restores and VMWare redirection restore are not effected by this
issue.
Resolution:
The above
mentioned issue is now fixed by way of a hotfix. Please refer the Related
Documents Section for more information about the hotfix.
