Cause

This will occur if a media server was removed from a NetBackup environment without following the decommissioning procedure. NetBackup will not be able to communicate with the media server to expire the images from the environment.

Solution

The media server decommissioning tool should be used (see Related Articles below).

The previous workaround to resolve this issue was to run the following command:

nbdelete -allvolumes -force

Located:
UNIX: /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/
Windows: <INSTALL PATH>\netbackup\bin\admincmd

Note: This command should never be run when the images still exist as it removes all trace of the image from the NetBackup Database, but will not necessarily remove it from the media.  In the case of disk images, this will leave orphaned fragments in the storage.  This should only be used when the media server, and all associated media are destroyed,

If the above does not resolve the issue, contact NetBackup support to assist with creation of an SQL script to remove the leftover information from the EMM database.
