An error was encountered while getting data for the Home Page.
java.io.IOException: No serializer found for class com.symantec.sea.middleware.data.HomePageStatistics1 in registry org.apache.axis.encoding.TypeMappingDelegate@811e18
 


Solution



After doing an in place upgrade of BESR Manager from 8.0 to 8.5 via a remote terminal session, the Manager console fails to open and generates an error stating that an error was encountered while getting data for the Home Page.
 
This was a failed upgrade. It was necessary to use uninstall tools to remove the components. A manual scan and cleaning of all BESR Manager references in the system's registry was also required to get the product installed following the failed upgrade.
