Environment

When attempting to manually install the Management control agent to a 64-bit Windows System following the steps outlined in the appropriate technote in the related documents section below, the client system does not appear in the Management console and the following error occurs:

Error E339197C: An error occurred while publishing. System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Unable to register computer. Invalid passcode. Unable to register computer. Invalid passcode.
Source: Backup Exec System Recovery Management Control

Cause

The passcode (i.e. EPC value) is incorrectly located on the 64-bit system.

Solution

Be sure to have the EPC value located here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Symantec\Backup Exec System Recovery Manager\X.X\Publisher]
EPC= <Value specific to the BESRM server>
Note: After this installation there is a period of initialization as the driver loads into memory and builds a series of values in the registry at the same address where the EPC value was added. It is only after that operation that the client is likely to appear in the console.
