How to bring an Offline tape device back Online in the Backup Exec user interface.


Solution



      If a tape device shows as offline on the Backup Exec Devices Tab:

          FIGURE 1


      The device can be brought back online by right clicking on the tape drive and selecting Online as shown figure 2.

      Note: Bringing an offline device back online does not guarantee that Backup Exec will be able to properly communicate with the device if there is an issue with the hardware.  If the device continues to go offline or if Backup Exec is not able to properly communicate with it, contact the hardware manufacturer to further diagnose the issue.
