Symantec Enabled Arrays - Array Support Library for Fujitsu ETERNUS4000 and ETERNUS8000 Arrays (Active/Active) on Veritas Volume Manager (tm) 5.0 for HP-UX 11iv2

Solution

This Solution provides information about the array support library (ASL) for FUJITSU ETERNUS4000 and ETERNUS8000 Series arrays on Veritas Volume Manager 5.0 and later for HP-UX 11iv2.

For general information about ASLs, refer to Solution 249446 (link in the Related Documents section below).

Package Name: Array Support Library for Fujitsu ETERNUS4000/8000
Package Version: 5.0-rev-1
Supported versions of Veritas Volume Manager: 5.0 and later
Supported Arrays: Fujitsu ETERNUS4000 Series (Active/Active)
                              Fujitsu ETERNUS8000 Series (Active/Active)

Installation Instructions:

1. Create a directory to store the ASL package:
# mkdir /tmp/asl
# cd /tmp/asl

2. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL package

3. After downloading VRTSFJTSYe8k_v1_HPUX_50_319672.tar.Z, verify checksum of the file as follows:
# cksum VRTSFJTSYe8k_v1_HPUX_50_319672.tar.Z
669863415 496621 VRTSFJTSYe8k_v1_HPUX_50_319672.tar.Z

4. Uncompress the file and extract the package:
# uncompress VRTSFJTSYe8k_v1_HPUX_50_319672.tar.Z
# tar xvf VRTSFJTSYe8k_v1_HPUX_50_319672.tar

5. Before adding any ASL packages, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled:
# vxdctl mode
mode: enabled

Note: If you have installed the previous version of the ASL for the ETERNUS4000/8000 (for example, FJTSYe8k), uninstall the package before installing the current version.

6. Attach the disk array, and reboot. Then, to enable vxconfid to claim E8000 as JBOD when ASL is not being used, execute the following commands:
# vxddladm rmjbod vid="FUJITSU"
# vxddladm addjbod vid="FUJITSU" pid="E8000" offset=44 length=4
# vxddladm listjbod
VID     PID             Opcode Page Code Page Offset SNO length Policy

7. ASL Installation:
# swinstall -s `pwd` VRTSFJTSYe8k

8. After the package is installed, you must execute the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array as an ETERNUS8000 or ETERNUS4000 array:
# vxdctl enable

9. After executing vxdctl enable, run the vxddladm listsupport and vxddladm listversion command and verify the output:
# vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxFJTSYe8k.sl
ATTR_NAME            ATTR_VALUE
=======================================================================
LIBNAME              libvxFJTSYe8k.sl

# vxddladm listversion libname=libvxFJTSYe8k.sl
libvxFJTSYe8k.sl has version string: vm-5.0-rev-1. VXVM version: 5.0
