GENERAL ERROR: "errno = 22 system call received parameter that is not valid" occurs when backing up an oracle online redo file.

Solution

Overview:
"errno = 22 system call received parameter that is not valid"  occurs when backing up an oracle online redo file, using a standard policy with no advanced client features.

Client Log Files:
bpbkar
<16> bpbkar: ERR - Cannot open file /u04/oracle/xxxx/oradata/onlinelog/redo0302.log. Errno = 22: A system call received a parameter that is not valid.

Resolution:
Oracle does not recommend backing up the online redo log, so it is recommended that you place online redo log files in a different file system than datafiles, archive log files, or database control files. Do not include the online redo log files in the file list.

This is stated on page 210 in the NetBackup for Oracle Admin Guide for Unix and Linux.
