Problem
GENERAL ERROR: A FlashBackup restore with Solaris x86 Master Server will fail with Status Code 5 reported. The log message "an extension package is needed, but was not installed" is also reported.
Error
the restore failed to recover the requested files
Solution
Overview:
Attempting a FlashBackup restore on a Solaris x86 master server results in a failure (status code 5 reported in the Activity Monitor) and the following errors logged in the Job Details:
13:08:49 (303777.001) Restoring from image created Thu Feb 26 06:35:31 2009
13:08:49 (303777.001) Status of restore from image created Thu Feb 26 06:35:31 2009 = an extension package is needed, but was not installed
Log Files:
Entries similar to the following may be found in the bprd log:
13:08:49.009 [10391] <2> linktosfr: Flashbackup libsfr.so not installed:
ld.so.1: bprd: fatal: /usr/openv/lib/libsfr.so: open failed: No such file or directory
13:08:49.009 [10391] <2> restorefiles: Last attempt to restore from image = flashbackup-client_1235626531 failed (browse_client = flashbackup-client destination_client = flashbackup-client requesting_client = nbumaster user = root): an extension package is needed, but was not installed
Resolution:
FlashBackup restores require the master server to be supported by the FlashBackup option. Currently, Solaris x86 is not supported. This is documented in the "Veritas NetBackup (tm) 6.x Snapshot Client (Advanced Client) OS, Arrays and Database Agent Compatibility" guide, linked below.
In order for a restore to be performed a compatible master server will need to be used. There is currently no timeframe for FlashBackup support in Solaris x86; please keep checking the web site for updates.
