"An Invalid license key has been entered. Please verify the key and try again" message occurs when trying to install the Backup Exec for Windows Servers Agent for Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server license for version 12.5 on a Backup Exec 12.0 installation


Error



"An Invalid license key has been entered. Please verify the key and try again"


Solution



All Backup Exec 12.5 license keys are supposed to be backward compatible with all Backup Exec 12.0 Options . This means a customer should be able to purchase and apply all Backup Exec 12.5 licenses to a Backup Exec 12.0 installation.
 
This issue has been resolved in the following Hotfix:
 
Backup Exec 12.0 for Windows Servers revision 1364 Hot fix 315269
 
This Hotfix is included in Service Pack 3 for Backup Exec 12.0.  Apply Service Pack 3 to the Backup Exec 12.0 Installation and afterward, the SharePoint License will be accepted by the installation.
