Problem
Restore of Microsoft SharePoint Portal 2003 Configuration Database fails with the error "A communications failure has occurred. Connection to the restore target has been lost. Operation canceled"
Error
0xe000fe30 - A communications failure has occurred.
V-79-57344-65072 - Connection to the restore target has been lost. Operation canceled.
Restore of Microsoft Sharepoint 2003 Configuration Database fails with 0 byte count and the following error is displayed
"The Media Server was unable to connect to Remote Machine tp://server01. The machine could not be found on the network.
The Media Server will fall back on the local agent to try and complete the operation."
"Restore- http://server01\Content DB (SERVER01\Server01_SITE)
V-79-57344-65072 - Connection to the restore target has been lost. Operation canceled."
Solution
1.On the SharePoint server,click on Start - Run - Services.msc
2.Stop the "Microsoft Search" and "Microsoft SharePointPS Search" services from the Windows Services Console.
3.Restart the services "Microsoft Search" and "Microsoft SharePointPS Search". Make sure that both the services are running .
4.Run the restore job.
