SQL redirect restore job fails if destination machine path is selected through the browse button


Error



During a SQL redirect restore if the browse button is used to specify an alternate path to redirect the SQL data files the job will fail with the following error (FIGURE 1):

Cause



In the restore job under Microsoft SQL Redirection job setup the Destination Option - Use this path contains a UNC Network path when using the browse button to specify a data directory to restore to (FIGURE 2).

Solution



  

 SOLUTION:

This issue has been fixed in Backup Exec 2012

WORKAROUND:
 
Workaround for versions earlier that Backup Exec 2012

Remove the UNC Network path under Destination Option and manually type in the physical drive letter and path for the data directory to restore to such as F:\SQL_Restore where F: is the drive on your SQL Server and the database you are redirecting your restore to is located in the SQL Server path of F:\SQL_Restore. (FIGURE 3).
