Problem
Backup Exec for Windows Servers must be at a minimum of a 9.x or higher version before a multi-step upgrade to version 12.5 can be performed
Solution
Direct upgrades to Backup Exec 12.5 for Windows Servers can only be performed if version 12.0 or 11d are currently installed. A multi-step upgrade can be performed with versions prior to 11d, back to version 9.x. Multi-step upgrades are not possible with 8.x and prior versions of Backup Exec for Windows Servers.
