Problem
Disaster Recovery restore of content and other DBs fails with 'Connection to the restore target has been lost'
Error
Error: Unable to lock the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Farm. Check the option to release the lock on the SharePoint farm topology on the backup job properties for Microsoft SharePoint, and then retry the job.
Cause
A disaster recovery restore of Sharepoint with the Backup Exec for Windows Servers Sharepoint agent involves restoring Sharepoint database resources to a non-functioning Sharepoint environment. Once the Sharepoint SQL back end is up and running, the next step is restore all Sharepoint resources except the Configuration database, the Global Settings, and the Single Sign-on database. During this stage, the restore may fail with the following errors:
Connection to the restore target has been lost. Operation canceled.
Error: Unable to lock the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Farm. Check the option to release the lock on the SharePoint farm topology on the backup job properties for Microsoft SharePoint, and then retry the job.
Solution
This issue has been resolved in Backup Exec 12.5 for Windows Servers revision 2213 Hotfix 347786. See related documents for more information.
