"Event ID 65313" appears in the Event Viewer Application Log when a Backup job is targeted to tape.


Error



The tape cartridge has reached the end of its useful life.

The following Event ID is logged in the Event Viewer Application Log when a backup job targeted to a tape begins (Figure 1).

A Tape alert warning is also displayed in the Backup Exec console under the Alerts tab (Figure 2).

Cause



1.  The tape cartridge being used for backup job is defective.

2.  The tape cartridge is very old / worn out.


Solution



 
1.Discard the old tape and use another known good tape cartridge recommended by the hardware manufacturer.
2.Run a Quick Erase on the tape, attempt to run another backup, and if the alert still occurs then try updating the firmware of the tape and contact the hardware manufacturer of the tape device for further assistance.
