Which versions of Symantec Enterprise Vault (tm) can
this hotfix be applied?
This hotfix can only be applied to the following versions of Enterprise Vault for:
Enterprise Vault 8.0 SP1, Build 1560
What issue does this hotfix resolve?
A relevant string is initialized to fix the issue of incorrect error handling. In the absence of proper initialization, the driver code tried to deallocate the un-initialized string causing a reboot to occur.
Which files does this hotfix replace?
EvPlaceholderService.exe 8.0.1.1560
evmf.sys 8.0.1.1560
How to install this hotfix:
1. Copy the following files on the file server to another directory:
C:\Program Files\Enterprise Vault\EvPlaceholderService.exe
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\evmf.sys
2. Stop the Enterprise Vault File Placeholder Service.
3. Go to the command prompt and run the following command:
fltmc unload evfilter
4. Copy the hotfix version of the EvPlaceholderService.exe file to C:\Program Files\Enterprise Vault folder.
5. Copy the correct hotfix version of the evmf.sys file to C:\Windows\system32\drivers. There is a 32-bit and a 64-bit driver included in this hotfix.
6. Go to the command prompt and run the following command:
fltmc load evfilter
7. Restart the Enterprise Vault File Placeholder Service.
