Problem
Installation issues may be experienced when attempting to install or upgrade to Veritas Backup Reporter (VBR) 6.6 on Windows 2003 64-bit systems when using the "6.6" media. The "6.6R1" media should be used instead.
Solution
A media refresh of the Windows version of Veritas Backup
Reporter (VBR) 6.6 was necessary to correct issues related to the installation
of the Management Server and Agent on Windows 2003 64-bit servers. Both
32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) architectures are currently supported with Windows
2003 as listed below (see "Operating Systems" section) running 32-bit
binaries. At this time, there is no version of VBR with 64-bit
binaries.
These issues do not affect VBR running on Solaris servers and the equivalent Solaris media was not refreshed. These issues also do not affect Windows 32-bit installations or upgrades.
Updated Windows media is labeled "6.6R1" to reflect the refresh.
The image now available on FileConnect also reflects the refresh.
Note: The installed version of VBR from this media ("6.6.0") did not change, nor did any of the actual VBR components included in this update - only the installer. If an upgrade or installation of VBR 6.6 has already succeeded, no action needs to be taken, as the most current version of VBR has already been installed.
Symantec strongly recommends the following best practices:
1. Always perform a Full backup prior to and after any changes to your environment.
2. Always make sure that your environment is running the latest version and patch level.
