Prompt for Windows Installation Software "File needed for Restore Anyware" occurs during Restore Anyware Process.

Solution

This prompt may occur when the Windows Service Pack folder has been removed from the file system before the image of the source machine is taken.  If this is the case, Backup Exec System Recovery (BESR) will prompt for these files for the Restore Anyware process to be completed. A valid path for the service pack files must exist or the restore will fail. Removing the service pack files is done in some cases to free up disk space. However, the files may be needed during the retargeting phase of the restore.

Work-around:

1.  Download and extract to an alternate location the corresponding files for the support pack that was on the source machine at the time the recovery point was taken.  When prompted by BESR for the files from the service pack, point to the extracted folder.

2.  Download and install the support pack on the source machine again, making sure that the corresponding files for that support pack are kept on the source machine.  Create a new recovery point and use that recovery point to recover your machine.
