For general information about ASLs, see TechNote 249446 (link in Related Documents section of this Tech File).

ASL Package Name:  Array Support Library for HP XP1024/128
ASL Package Description:  Array Support Library for HP XP1024/128
ASL Package Version: 2.2
Supported versions of Veritas Volume Manager:  4.0 and 4.1

Installation Instructions:

1. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL package

2. After downloading HPXP1_Sol_Sparc_vm4.x_v2.0.tar_325544.gz, verify the checksum
# cksum HPXP1_Sol_Sparc_vm4.x_v2.0.tar_325544.gz
2008166850      7127    HPXP1_Sol_Sparc_vm4.x_v2.0.tar_325544.gz

3. Uncompress the file and extract the package.
# gunzip HPXP1_Sol_Sparc_vm4.x_v2.0.tar_325544.gz
# tar -xvf HPXP1_Sol_Sparc_vm4.x_v2.0.tar_325544

4. Before adding any ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled

# vxdctl mode
mode: enabled

Warning: If installing on Solaris 9, then set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/lib. See TechNote 251706 (link in the Related Documents section of this TechFile)

5. To install the package type
# pkgadd -d . HPXP1

6. After the package is installed, you must execute the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array

# vxdctl enable

Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL does not
take effect and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can
execute the vxconfigd -k command in addition to vxdctl enable

7. After running vxdctl enable, run the vxddladm listsupport command to ensure that the ASL is correctly installed
# vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxhpxp.so
ATTR_NAME            ATTR_VALUE
=========================================
LIBNAME              libvxhpxp.so

8.  Verify the ASL version
# vxddladm listversion libname=libvxhpxp.so
libvxhpxp.so has version string: vm-4.0-rev-3. VXVM version: 4.0
