VERITAS Enabled Arrays - Array Support Library for IBM TotalStorage DS6000 and DS8000 Series arrays with IBM SDD on VERITAS Volume Manager 4.0 MP2 and later for AIX

Solution

This TechFile provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) for IBM TotalStorage DS6000 and DS8000 Series storage arrays with IBM Subsystem Device Driver (SDD) Support on VERITAS Volume Manager 4.0MP2 and later for AIX.
For general information about ASLs, see TechNote 249446 (link in the Related Documents section of this TechFile)
Notes:
1. With firmware revisions earlier than rev. 6.0.0.430, there is a known limitation that the array does not present LUNs with sizes < 32GB correctly to Volume Manager. For LUNs sized < 32GB, you must use firmware revision 6.0.0.430 or later. Contact IBM Support for the latest firmware updates
2. IBM SDD version 1.6.0.0 and later is supported with DS6000 and DS8000 arrays. Contact IBM Support for detailed information

Installation instructions:
At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL package VRTSIBMds6k8ktpd_v2_AIX_vm4.0MP2.tar_326915.gz
1. Before adding any ASL package, ensure VERITAS Volume Manager is installed and enabled:
# vxdctl mode
mode: enabled

2. After downloading VRTSIBMds6k8ktpd_v2_AIX_vm4.0MP2.tar_326915.gz, verify the checksum of the file
# cksum VRTSIBMds6k8ktpd_v2_AIX_vm4.0MP2.tar_326915.gz
3787507466    11069   VRTSIBMds6k8ktpd_v2_AIX_vm4.0MP2.tar_326915.gz

3. Uncompress and extract the packages:
# gunzip VRTSIBMds6k8ktpd_v2_AIX_vm4.0MP2.tar_326915.gz
# tar xvf VRTSIBMds6k8ktpd_v2_AIX_vm4.0MP2.tar_326915

4. To install the package:
# installp -acX -d ./VRTSIBMds6k8ktpd.bff VRTSIBMds6k8ktpd

5. After the package is installed, you must run the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array as an IBM DS6000 or IBM DS8000 Series array:
# vxdctl enable

6. After running the vxdctl enable command, you should see libvxIBMds6k8ktpd.so in the output of the vxddladm listsupport command:
# vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxIBMds6k8ktpd.so
ATTR_NAME           ATTR_VALUE
