This TechFile provides information about the Array Support Library (ASL) and Array Policy Module (APM) for Huawei OceanStor Series Arrays (A/P-C, A/P-F) on Veritas Volume Manager 5.0MP3RP1 and later for Solaris Sparc

Supported versions of Veritas Volume Manager: 5.0MP3RP1 and Later

Supported Mode : A/P-C and A/P-F

Supported Arrays: Huawei OceanStor Series Arrays ( S5300, S5500, S5600, S6800E, S2300, S2300E, S2600F, S2600C, VIS6300, VIS6600 ) in A/P-F mode

Installation Instructions:
1. Create a directory to download the ASL/APM package
# mkdir /tmp/asl_apm/
# cd /tmp/asl_apm/

2. At the bottom of this TechFile, click on Download Now to download the ASL/APM package

3. After downloading VRTSHUAWEI_asl_apm_SunOS_vm5.0_v1.tar_327870.gz, verify the checksum

# cksum VRTSHUAWEI_asl_apm_SunOS_vm5.0_v1.tar_327870.gz

4. Uncompress the file and extract the package.

# gunzip VRTSHUAWEI_asl_apm_SunOS_vm5.0_v1.tar_327870.gz

# tar -xvf VRTSHUAWEI_asl_apm_SunOS_vm5.0_v1.tar_327870

5. Before adding any ASL package, ensure Veritas Volume Manager is installed and enabled

# vxdctl mode
mode: enabled

Warning: If installing on Solaris 9, then set LD_LIBRARY_PATH to /usr/lib. See TechNote 251706 (link in the Related Documents section of this TechFile)

6. ASL Installation

# pkgadd -d . VRTSHUAWEIasl

7. APM Installation

# pkgadd -d . VRTSHUAWEIapm

8. After the package is installed, you must execute the vxdctl enable command to claim the disk array
# vxdctl enable

Note: In some cases, it has been reported that the installation of the ASL does not
take effect and vxdctl enable does not claim the enclosure and devices. In such cases, you can
execute the vxconfigd -k command in addition to vxdctl enable

9. After running vxdctl enable, run the vxddladm listsupport command to ensure that the ASL is correctly installed

# vxddladm listsupport libname=libvxhuawei.so
