Problem
After selecting an additional option in Evaluation Mode or entering a Backup Exec License Key, installation fails with the error "Failed to install SQL Express BKUPEXEC instance with error 1603"
Error
V-225-53: error: failed to install SQL Express bkupexec instance with error 1603
When the error above occurs, the following may show in the Backup Exec installation log bkupinst.htm:

Solution
To resolve this issue perform the following steps:
1. Launch Beutility.exe located under X:\Programs Files\Symantec\ Backup Exec (Where X: is the location for Backup Exec Installation, by default it would be C:\)
2. Select File > New Server. Enter the Backup Exec server name, then select OK.
3. After adding the name, it will show under all media servers. Right click on the server name.
4. Select Change Database Access from the drop down menu.
5. Grant access to the Backup Exec account and also the user account logged on to the server if different than the Backup Exec account .
6. Re-run the installation and attempt to add the license again.
