Step-By-Step Installation Procedure of Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager (BEIM) - (12.5)

Solution




To install Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager:-

 
1. Log on to the computer by using either the Administrator account or an
account that has administrator privileges.

2. Insert the Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager DVD into the DVD drive of
the computer.

 

3. Perform one of the following procedures:

If the installation automatically starts Continue with step 4.

If the installation does not start automatically, do the following in the order listed:

a. On the Windows desktop, click Start> Run.
b. Type: <media drive letter>:\Setup.exe.  For example, e:\setup.exe.
c. Continue with next step.

4. In the Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager Installation Welcome panel, click Next.

 

5. Select the installation medium to use. Use the Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager installation DVD or a high-speed Internet connection.
Symantec recommends an Internet connection be used whenever possible.  An Internet connection ensures the most recent version gets installed.
The Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager program files are installed in the default path that appears on the Options page.

6. To change the directory where the Backup Click Change to select a new directory.
Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager files are Installed.
To accept the default Click Next.

 

7. Do the following in the order listed:

a. Click Create a new SQL Server Express instance.
    The name of the new instance is BESOLUTION.
    Write down this name.  It must be entered later in the installation process when prompted to specify the Microsoft SQL Server name.
The Symantec Management Platform uses this SQL Server instance.

b. Click Next.
c. Continue with next step.

    To use an existing SQL Server Express instance:
d. Click Use an existing SQL Server Instance.
e. Click Next.
f. Continue with next step.

Note:- Symantec does not recommend using an instance of SQL Server Express that hosts
           another application. Uninstalling the other application can render the Symantec
           Management Platform configuration management database unusable. In
           addition, other applications may use some SQL Server Express settings that may be
           incompatible with the Symantec Management Platform.
To use an existing SQL Server instance, a prompt to select it will occur
later in the installation process.

 

8. Check Symantec Backup Exec Infrastructure Management Suite.

9. Read the message that appears, and then click OK.
The Symantec Installation Manager selects all additional software components that are required
to complete the installation.

10. Click Review selected products.

 

11. Review the list of selected products, and then click Next.

 

12. Read the end-user license agreement, and then check I accept the terms in the license agreements.

13. Click Next.

 

Note:- The Symantec Installation Manager runs an install readiness check to make sure all computer requirements have been met. The results of the install readiness check appear in the Install Readiness Check panel.

14. Install any required software before continuing the installation. Where applicable, a link appears in the Install Readiness Check panel that installs the missing software from within the Symantec Installation Manager panel. If a link does not appear, exit the installation, install the missing software component, and then start the Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager installation again. The following options appear in the Install Readiness Check panel.

  • Check Mark : The requirement and the recommendations are met.
  • Exclamation Point : The requirement is met. The installation can continue, however, there are some recommendations to consider.
  • Red X : The requirement is not met. The installation cannot continue until the requirement is met.

Note:- Click the associated link for additional information or to install the required
product. After making changes to the computer, click Check install readiness
again to recheck the system. A restart of the computer may be required after the software is installed.

15. Click Next.

 

16. In the Notification Server Configuration panel, type the appropriate information to complete the panel.

17. Click Next.

 

18. In the Database Configuration panel, do one of the following:

Do the following in the order listed:
  • Under Database server, in the SQL Server name field, verify that the name BESolution appears.
  • Click User Windows authentication.
To use the SQL instance BESOLUTION
Do the following in the order listed:
  • Under Database server, in the SQL Server name field, type an existing instance name, or select an instance name from the list. Ensure that the account has rights to the named instance specified.
  • Click Use SQL Server login, and then enter the correct login credentials.
To use an existing SQL instance Under Database name, the Symantec  Installation Manager creates a new database that is called Symantec CMDB. This database is installed in the named instance that was selected, or in the SQL instance BESOLUTION that is created by default.

19. Wait until the download of install files completes, and then click Next.

 

The Symantec Installation Manager verifies the database connection.

20. Do the following:
Check the versions of the Symantec
Monitor Solution to install.

Note:- The Symantec Installation Manager selects the Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager Plug-in by default.
Choices include the following
  • Monitor Agent for Linux
  • Monitor Agent for VMWare ESX
  • Monitor Agent x64 for Windows
  • Monitor Agent x86 for Windows
Continue with the next step.
To push-install the Symantec Monitor Solution to the computers to monitor.
21. Click Next.

 

22. In the Computers to Manage panel, select all of the computers on which the Altiris Agent needs to be installed on and then move them to the Selected Computers window.

 

23. Under Connect using these credentials, type the login credentials for the computers selected.

24. Click Validate Computers.

 

25. After the computer validation completes successfully, click Close.
26. Click Begin install.

 

27. When the installation finishes, click Close.

28. In the Symantec Installation Manager installation panel, click Close.

29. In the Backup Exec Infrastructure Manager installation panel, click Finish.
