Redirected restore of Oracle fails with error "ORA-00201"

Error

Unable to attach to a resource. Make sure that all selected resources exist and are online, and then try again.

Solution

When trying to redirect the restore of full and differential backups of Oracle to a different server, RMAN returns script error in the job log that the database version of the restore target is older then the backup files.

Cause:
Oracle configuration is not same on the destination.

Resolution:
1) Update Oracle to the latest service pack.
2) Verify if Sys account is correctly configured in the remote agent tab and the Media server.
3) Redirect log files and database files to a different location than the Oracle instance redirection path.
4) Run the RESETLOGS command to recover the database after the restore completes. ( Refer to the related documents section )

Note:
It is recommended having the similar configuration while redirecting the restore when using 11d, 12.x, or 2010. For example, if the restore fails on D:, check if D: is present on the destination else redirect restore to a different drive as suggested above.
