Issue

Upon installing the Replication Service Agent, the Server is not visible in the Replication Management Server console's "Server" list.

Error

Unable to connect to the RMS.

Solution

Perform the following steps on the RSA Server that is not appearing in the RMS console:

Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.

1.   From the Windows Services applet, select the Enterprise Network Layer (ENL) service and click the Stop button. (This will prompt that the Replication Service Agent service, etc. will also be stopped.) Click YES to continue.

2.   Click Start | Run, and type in REGEDT32

3.   Drill down to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VERITAS\ENL\System (Figure 1)

Figure 1

4.   Double-click the netgroup string value in the right-hand Data View pane

5.   Ensure that the netgroup value matches the RMS Server's Replication Neighborhood name exactly.

See TechNote 230902 in the Related Documents section below if the netgroup value is unknown.

6.   Restart the ENL service first, then start the Replication Service Agent service.

The RMS Server console should now display the RSA Server node in the Server list.

If the RSA node still does not appear and the Server is located on a different subnet than that of the RMS Server, create a Gateway key on the RSA node: http://support.veritas.com/docs/231017

If the RSA Server is multi-homed or resides in an untrusted domain, a PreferredAddress registry key may be required:  http://support.veritas.com/docs/236290

Not all operating systems are supported by Replication Exec. Please consult the support matrix in the Related Documents section below.
