Problem
When performing a backup operation, the following error:"WARNING: "\***\***\***\***.pst" is a corrupt file. This file cannot verify." is generated
Error
The error message is generated when Backup Exec for Windows Servers (tm) attempts to back up a file that is in use by another application or user. Backup Exec may back up partial data from such a file, but when it is not able to continue the backup of the file, Backup Exec marks the file on tape as corrupt.
This issue is also a result of Microsoft Outlook being open on a remote machine during backup operation and an error will produce in the log file stating that the .pst and/or .pab files are corrupt and the job will fail (Figure 1).

Solution
To resolve this issue, please perform either of the following:
1. Verify that Microsoft Outlook is closed before the backup operation is performed or
2. Use the Backup Exec Advanced Open File Option during the backup operation.
