Issue

The DLO profile was modified to specify a new path for the DUDF under "Override the default desktop user folder path". However DLO agent on the workstation continues to backup to the default location of the DUDF.

Environment

  • An existing DLO profile has the DUDF path specified as the default i.e. \documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\Symantec\DLO
  • A  change was made to this profile to specify a new path for the DUDF. The new path was specified under "Override the default desktop user folder path" under the General tab of the profile
  • After making this change it is observed that the DUDF location on the desktops / laptops remains unchanged. DLO continues backup to the default location even after a log-off / log-on / reboot of the desktop / laptop.

Solution

After making the changes in the Profile the change in the DUDF path has to be done manually by the users. (see Figure 1)
Tools >> Options >> Backup Folders >> Move
Figure 1

Note:
1> If you do not see the 'Move' button then the Administrator needs to Allow the users to Move the local user data folder in the user's DLO profile as seen in Figure 2 below...
Figure 2

2> If the DLO agent is being installed from scratch then it automatically picks up the configuration details and starts backing up to the alternate DUDF location as the Profile attributes.
